Thurs., Sept. 25, Day 24, – Port Angeles to Lake Quinault

Today we drove over the north shore of the Olympic National Park and then down the west side, ending at the Quinault Lake Lodge. Highlights of the day were Lake Crescent, on the north, and the Pacific Ocean on the west, from our lunch restaurant at Kalaloch. See pics. This being a rain forest, it rained off and on all day. It stopped enough for us to see the great view of the lake from our room, then started again. We decided to postpone our tour of the area until tomorrow.
This is one of the old national park lodges that looks like it hasn’t been renovated since the fifties. The fireplace in the lounge is huge, 6′ wide. Our room is tiny, with only new thing being the carpet. Not worth the $200 we paid for it, but the prices in all the Nat’l Parks are exagerated.
We had an excellent dinner at the Lodge restaurant. We both had the duck, which proved to be a delicious dish. After dinner, we enjoyed sitting in the the lounge, on a cushy couch, and reading, with the fire roaring and the elk above the fireplace looking down on us.
