Woke to a dreary looking day. Peter went for a swim ( the pool here is quite nice, large enough for lap swimming) and I slept late. Lunch here in our condo of nicoise salad with salmon and a killer chicken soup, then off to explore the nearby towns of Parksville and Qualicum Beach and arrive at our golf reservation at Pheasant Glen. Very cloudy and almost misty rain. However, our luck held and we were able to play a beautiful golf course – the first nine was through tall pine and fir forest with wide open fairways and no houses – like being in a forest. The last nine took us into a “links type” course, with only two homes visible, set well back from the course. I only lost 7 balls because if you only missed the fairways by an inch. your ball was lost in the most dense underbrush rough we’ve ever incountered. However, because of Peter’s bilateral knee operation and then Lois’ bilateral cataract operation, we’ve only played 3 times this entire summer, we felt quite good about the day. Our first 18 hole game. Home again to hot showers and a steak dinner.
