On the way from Boseman to Kalispell, MT, we stop in Missoula for a laptop wordpress consult at a Speedy Mac store. The reason that most all of these blogs are being written at once is that we had spaced out the way to post them. Our consultant was a bright young Montana U. student who happened to be taking a course which included the use of Word Press! What luck. The next challenge is to remember what she taught us. Along with Peter’s knees and Lois’ hip and cataract replacements, we wish we could have fresh new brains implanted.
To resume the travelogue, we continue in a western direction, over the continental divide. and then north up to Kalispell. The star of this day in Flathead Lake, the largest natural fresh water lake in the west. Vast and deep blue and beautiful. We drive up the east shore, with the Rocky Mtns. on our right and the lake on our left. The day’s second star is the Kalispell Grand Hotel, which opened in 1912 and has been lovingly restored. We have a nice, corner room on the 3rd floor overlooking Main St. The hotel reminds us of a small town version of Denver’s Brown Palace. Dinner next door at another Italian restaurant. A large serving of fresh halibut. What a delicious surprise!
